Week 3+4

The time is really running fast, unfortunately the weather has changed in the middle of week 4 and the warm and sunny days belong now more or less to the past. Of course it could be worse, the storm Callum for example presented himself only in a few houres of rain while other parts of Britain, like Cornwall, were flooded.
The school focused in the 3rd week on talking over different cultures (which might has been a bit onesided since only the teachers were from switzerland) and the fourth week was more or less marked by structures and sentences on how to discuss in english and generall english speaking.
Some expressions I've learnt are for example: having your wires crossed or to clear the air. Some words, which are rather not related to the topic, which I've learnt are: geordie, weepy, cheesy, elated, imposter syndrome or apprehensive.

On thing that surprised my a bit in cultural regard about the UK is the fact that following the statements of multiple locals curry has taken over the place of the most eaten/ordered food, while most most tourists still think on fish and chips when they think about bristish food.
But the probalby most astonishing things over the last two weeks  I've heard are how some locals spend their free time hier in the UK. There's a group of anti-fox-hunting activists which take extrem messaures to sbotate the forbidden fox hunts and multiple of them get killed ever year while doing so. An other rather strange thing is the fact that there are historical replays around York with multiple hundert people replaying battles from the past with little to no protection and steal weapons for which they require special offical permits to carry them around. According to one of the teachers every year five people get killed in these reanactments.
The Bristol harbour site
In my leisure time I vistited the the Filton Aerospace where they have one of the last concords, the harbour site where the worlds first iron ship lies and some local pubs. With some other students from the school I tried to take part in some local pub quizes but we endend up on the least place twice with about half the points of the second last team.
