Week 1

After a little bit more then a week in Bristol i guess it's time for a first review. I'm quite happy about the fact that it turned out that BLC is a relative small school and so the classes aren't that big (about 3-8 students per class). I came into the CEA class which was for me somekind of unexpected because I really didn't rated my english that high. In my  morning class were only two other students Jan from Munich who also was a new student and Aisha Claire from Bern who ha s been at BLC for about 6 months now and in the afternoon class are three other swiss students (Chiara, Marine and Christopher) which results in five swiss and one german. But until now everyone is fine with english and no one speaks german or french (2 frechspeaking swiss) with eachother.
The hostfamily is really nice, even though the information i got from the school about them was faulty at best (some things changed 15 years ago). Briget the host is a really nice person who knows quite a bit about the english history which enabled me to learn how the british see some things which happend in the past or are happening right now. Her son Anouir and his girlfriend Diana, who has a really strong accent (speaks really fast, sounds like an other lanuage), are also really nice people.
On the first day the weather was pretty nice and so one of the teachers recommended to go to the bristol supsension bridge one of the iconic buildings. Allready the next day I understood why she told us to go there on that afternoon, because for nearly the complete rest of the week the weather changed nearly ever 10 minutes between rain and sun or rain and rain with wind.

When it comes to food it seems like the british have somekind of obsession for baked beans which they like to put on nearly everything. For example you take a big potato cook it and then put a giant amount of beans and cheaddar over it. Also from what i've learned the english quite like to make fun about the welsh people.
I didn't learn that much new vocabulary since whe focused last week more on phrasel verbs and idioms. Some idioms I picked up about the topic food/eating are: quench your thirst, pick your food, be a fussy eater or feel faint from hunger. Also I picked up some new vocabulary like: fad, gratification, glibness, priggish or cerebrally.

The school usally start at 9.15 (if the buses are on time, which doesn't always seems to be granted) and goes until 15.00 and is normally followed be special program. Aftewards I usally went with other students from the school to see something in the city. On the weekend I went with three other students to Cardiff to see the city and on sunday I went by coach to London.
